Alyssa Femia is one of Bootique’s great boot camp and Zumba clients – plus, she’s an amazing writer. She is authoring “The Little Black Dress” Chronicles about her experience to get into the best shape of her life – and back into the little back dress.
The Little Black Dress:
I’m sure you’re familiar. It’s the perfect outfit for cocktail parties, dinners, or a night out on the town. Not so perfect, however, when you can’t fit into yours anymore!
My name is Alyssa and I just moved to sunny San Diego from the smallest city in New York State. I came out here on a whim, not knowing anyone or having anything set up but instead to create a new challenge for myself and experience something totally new. Oh, and sitting on the beach in JANUARY is not so bad either.
The Challenge… I Chose To Accept It
Now that I’ve got a roof over my head and a job to pay the bills, it’s time for a new challenge. After a heavy day of cleaning out my closet (literally) and some inspiration from Jaylin, I decided to take it upon myself to do something that I haven’t done since I was 17: fit into that little black dress.
The dress you see in the picture was worn at a time when I was 20 pounds lighter, went to the gym diligently every five or six nights a week, and could run a 5K in 24 minutes or less. I was in the best shape of my life and I want to get back to, if not BEAT THAT, now!
What a Girl Will Do for a Little Motivation
I’ll admit I have a little bit of a motivation problem. Once I get to boot camp, I’m willing to put in my all but it’s the actual getting there that I’ve got to work on. As far as diet goes, I tend to eat pretty healthily for the most part except for my deadly sweet tooth. I’m a sucker for a chocolate chip cookie!
I am shooting for May 25th, the date of one of my closest friends’ wedding back home in NY. That is 16 full weeks away meaning I will need to lose roughly 1¼ pound per week to reach my goal. I will post one photo each month of me in the LBD to see the progress!
How I’m Going To Get Back Into My Little Black Dress
My plan is to get to at least three boot camps per week, two Zumba workouts, three runs, and one hike per week. As far as recipes and workouts, I’ll be sure to let you all know what works and what doesn’t.
