June FEATURED Boot Camp Client – Jane

Congratulations Jane!

Want to know why Jane glows at 6 am in the morning? She’ll tell you, “I am very blessed to be married to a man of great integrity who makes me laugh, and that I admire, respect and love after all these years. His name is Ted Cercos. We have four kids all over the age of 18 (YAY!), two dogs and a granddaughter.”

In fact, I can tell you from experience that Jane glows all day long! There are few people who can keep up with this woman and the strong workouts she does at boot camp every morning and often pulling doubles by joining us for Zumba at night!

Jane has had remarkable attendance since she started training with us almost a year ago, especially once she added Zumba to her regular routine… but then we added a competition, The 90 Day Body Transformation Challenge, to the mix – let’s just say that Jane responds well to competition. Regardless of all the other busy things going on in her life, Jane is committed to winning this competition – the fabulous results and health benefits are just a bonus!

Our clients are know for being supportive and encouraging of each other, but Jane takes it to another level. Need a juicer? She’ll lend you one. Need a ride? She’ll offer you one. Need some extra motivation? She’ll help you with that too!

From a career standpoint, Jane is an attorney. Though she’s not practicing anymore, she still carries the belief ‘once a lawyer, always a lawyer’. She taught an Introduction to Law class at the University of San Diego for six years, took a two year break, and will most likely start that up again in the Fall. These days, (outside of Bootique Fitness classes) she spends most of her time managing properties here in California, and in Arizona and Colorado. She has also been trained to help distribute Holy Communion at her church, St. Joseph’s Cathedral downtown, and just got security clearance to assist the priest at the VA Hospital to distribute Communion there on Sundays too.

She was born in Pasadena and grew up in Del Mar as the middle child of five. With her siblings, she has one of everything, an older and a younger brother, and an older and a younger sister. Growing up, she was always involved in sports and has stayed fairly athletic as an adult too. She played softball as an adult (catcher) up until she was about 7 months pregnant with her third child. People used to worry because Ted, her husband, would fire the ball to her at home plate to make an out (anything to win). She does admit to being a little over the top when it comes to being competitive.

She and Ted have been traveling a lot the last few years, but most of it has been related to their kids. They are really looking forward to traveling along, “I am pushing for us to rent out our home for a year and hit the road with a camper.” They also want to travel abroad – Ted’s family is from Spain.

Part of their recent travels have been due to their youngest daughter graduating high school and searching for a college. “I guess you could say that we are not very sad about our empty nest. In fact, we pretty much love it (don’t tell our kids). We get out a lot on the weekends to hike with our dogs. I love doing just about anything outdoors. I also love to cook and garden,” Jane says.

Jane’s Experience with Bootique Fitness

Jane talks about how she came to workout with us and what her experience has been like in boot camp and Zumba.

How long have you trained with Bootique Fitness?

It will be a year in July. My birthday is in July, and last year I decided to do something for myself. I have always worked out and stayed in pretty good shape, but I was very bored with my routine – yoga and cardio at the gym. I had seen people working out in the park near my house and I thought it looked really fun and I wanted to give it a try.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness?

I am definitely much stronger since I began boot camp! And I have much more definition in my arms and legs. My clothes are fitting better, and I really have a lot more energy. Plus, feeling stronger makes me feel more confident. When I started boot camp, I wasn’t sure I would be able to keep up, and it feels pretty good to know that I can. My husband calls me “Rambo” for fun.

What are your reasons for sticking with Bootique Fitness all this time?

I have always worked out, but I have never had SO MUCH FUN doing it. Jaylin is dead serious about making sure we get a great workout, but she makes it super fun, and encourages everyone individually. It is easy to stick with the Bootique Fitness classes because they are always a surprise – you never know what the routine will be, and the other girls are a blast! I have really enjoyed getting to know the other ladies in class. We chat while we are working hard, and there is usually a lot of laughter as well.

But the main thing is that everyone motivates and encourages each other. And I have even found that there are several girls who are as crazy competitive as I am.

What do you think about the trainers?

I can’t say enough about the trainers. Primarily, Jaylin and Ed! The workouts are always hard, but very do-able. Jaylin has an amazing attitude and energy. Plus, she’s fun, has a great sense of humor, and is super knowledgeable. And she’s a huge motivator! When I first called to ask about boot camp, I was just curious and doing the initial investigation, but at the end of the call she said: “OK, see you tomorrow then”. Jaylin doesn’t leave any room for excuses or procrastinating. She really helps people reach their goals because she holds everyone accountable. When I returned from a trip recently, my plane landed fairly late at night. I turned my phone on, and the very first text was from Jaylin – “see you in the morning”. Another time it was “are you still in San Francisco or are you just cutting class?”

Ed is great too! He puts us through some super tough routines and really pushes us to work hard. I don’t know how he puts up with so many ladies chatting, giggling and yes, complaining. He just takes it all in stride, and keeps us working hard.

The main thing about the trainers is that they individualize the workout where needed and come around to each person in class for individual attention.

You’ve invited your good friend to train with us, thank you! What made you want to tell her about us?

Actually because my husband sometimes calls me “Rambo”, the topic has come up often. My friend mentioned a few times that I was looking good, and asked what I was doing. I just kept telling her how much fun I was having at boot camp. I am really excited to hear that she signed up for the year, and I know she is already feeling those biceps firming up! If you’re reading this, Juanita, good job! I hope you keep it up!

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

I mostly enjoy the camaraderie and the encouragement I get from Jaylin, Ed and my classmates! I have also really enjoyed the 90 Day Challenge. It has been a total motivator! I have tried to stick to the program (mostly), and I am close to shedding the extra 10 lbs I’ve been carrying around for too long. I was really flattered and touched when two girls asked me to join their team. I don’t want to let them down so I have been working hard to get to class as much as possible. Plus, there’s always the early morning text from T or Roberta, just in case I am tempted to slack.

Thank you Miss Jane! We love training you!

Be sure to congratulate and celebrate Jane when you see her at boot camp and Zumba! She plays over at the Hillcrest and Marina 6 am boot camps as well as Zumba during the week.
