January Featured Boot Camp Client – Erin

Congratulations Erin!

We are proud to announce Erin as our Featured Boot Camp Client!

Since I haven’t had the opportunity to train with Erin directly (yet… see you at ZUMBA!) – I’ll have her regular trainers share stories about her.

Ro says: “What I love about Erin is that she’s always ready-to-go and has a great attitude during every class; no matter how many push-ups I maker her do ;). You can tell she’s really made a fitness a part of her life and I was even more impressed when I learned that she had her entire wedding party run a half marathon as a part of her wedding celebrations! Now that’s one dedicated lady!”

Sarah says: “Erin is very consistent in her workouts. She never complains, she does the work, always careful to focus on her form. She is a teacher so she understands the importance of paying attention to the instructor (thank you!). She is always smiling and in a good mood. It’s fun when she shares her classroom stories.”

What would you like people to know about you?

I’ve been living in San Diego for about 2 1/2 years now with my husband, Charlie. (We met on Match.com 6 years ago!). I’m from Maine and taught Kindergarten there for 5 years before moving here. During the week you can find me in Bankers Hill at Aspen Leaf Preschool teaching 2 and 3 year olds. (If you have little ones I’d love to give you a tour!). I’ve been running for about as long as I have been teaching, it definitely helps keep me sane. I run on my lunch break most days and love how it recharges me for the afternoon with my kids. I ran my first half marathon with my wedding party in August 2013. My next race is on St. John, USVI in February. 8 Tuff miles! For the next two months, I’ll be running lots of hills getting ready :).

Erin’s Experience with Bootique Fitness

Erin talks about how she came to work out with us and what her experience has been like in our San Diego boot camp.

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

About a year and a half…my first class was on June 24th, 2013 (I looked at my old calendar!). Sarah was teaching that day and Tedena was my partner and showed me the warm up. All of the ladies of Mission Bay were so welcoming and supportive I knew I’d found something great :).

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness?

When I lived in Maine I was working out with a group of my co-workers, and friends, under the direction of the health and wellness coordinator for my school district. I loved the supportive group aspect of the workouts and how it helped my running improve. I missed it so much when I first moved here. I was afraid I wouldn’t find it again. But…one day while I was running in Mission Bay I saw a group of ladies working out and I looked on yelp to figure out who they were…Bootique! I signed up for my first class right away and have been hooked ever since!

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness?

Since joining Bootique I have become so much stronger. I have always had a pretty strong lower body but my upper body wasn’t. Now, I do push-ups on my toes! I couldn’t do that before. Not even one with proper form. I try not to worry too much about the numbers on the scale but they have definitely gone down :). At my wedding, lots of people commented that they could tell I’d had been working out and could see it in my upper body. When I ran my first half marathon, I know it was because of Bootique that I made it through, with a pretty strong finish!

What is the biggest difference in your life since you started Bootique Fitness?

I love the feeling of accomplishment when I start the day with a 6 am class. I am happier, more patient with my kids at school, make better eating choices, and have more energy through out the day.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

I have trained with everyone and I love them all! I see Sabrina the most. She is always so full of energy (at 6am!) and we all love her sound effects (Ask her to do a power jack :). Her workouts go by so quickly, I am always surprised when she says “child’s pose!” Sarah’s workouts are awesome, I love all her props- battle ropes and bosu are my fav. Ro and Mollie’s Saturday workouts always leave me so sore, good sore. What is it about those Saturday workouts…Maybe it’s the burpees Ro makes us do every time we hear a specific word in a song. Those are fun…

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

All of the trainers plan such great workouts, that are never the same. I love how some days it might be a partner workout, the next day a tabata. One day might be mostly on the mat, then the next will have lots of stations with props. It’s hard to get bored when you never know what’s coming.

Why should other women just like you consider Bootique Fitness as their solution?

Bootique makes intense workouts fun and you won’t find a better group of ladies to sweat with in SD! And the beautiful locations don’t hurt either.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I’d like to thank all of the ladies of the 6am Mission Bay class for making waking up early easy. You are all so much fun and I love seeing the sunrise with you!

And finally, since it’s January…I thought I’d share a few of my goals for the new year. (I know you don’t like resolutions Jayin- I read the blog 🙂 But…writing it will make me more accountable right? So here goes: 5 boutique classes a week (I usually do 3 or 4.) Go to Ali’s yoga classes. And, try a zumba class! Ok ladies, help me keep my word! xo.

Thank you Miss Erin! We love training you!

Be sure to congratulate and celebrate Erin when you see her! She plays at the Mission Bay boot camps classes.
