September Featured Bootique Client – Julie

Congratulations Miss September!

We are proud to announce Julie as our Featured Bootique Client! This feature is long overdue as Julie has been part of our Bootique family for 5 years. She took a brief hiatus but she’s been back and going strong for a while now – as you’ll see her awesome results later in the post. To know Julie is to love her. She has fantastic energy whether she’s in class, hanging out with us and even more so when she’s taking our photographs. She has her own language that I adore. One of my favorites is hearing ‘spunky monkey’. I’m happy to have her in our Bootique family and even happier to know that she will be my wedding photographer. Julie is our fantastic photographer to whom we can credit the best of our Bootique photos. Seriously – check out her work www.julieferneau.com – she’s incredible!

What would you like our community to know about you?

Born and raised in Iowa and absolutely proud of it. Iowa molded me into who I am today. I wouldn’t change that for the world. I moved to San Diego 6 years ago looking for some warm winters and a fun, fresh start. I’m a full time wedding photographer with the world’s best couples! I’m in full swing busy season and it’s my FAVE time of the year! I also host a weekly podcast about photography and business. When I’m not photographing awesome couples, I’m hanging out at home with Louie and my 5 month old shepherd mix – Isabella Petunia. She’s awesome. Sunday brunch is my favorite hobby and would like to experience all of what San Diego has to offer. Feel free to send your favorites to me 🙂

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

I only allow Lemon scented hand soap in the kitchen. I’m a sucker for the bachelor/bachelorette/bachelor in paradise When I work at my computer, I prefer to work in silence instead of listening to music or watching netflix like normal people.

How about sharing one of your guilty pleasure?

Sour Patch Kids, Champagne, cheese, anything sweet & lemon!

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

It will be 5 years in October! Holy moly! I did have a very long 1.5 year hiatus due to a hip injury. Luckily I’m back at it 🙂

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

Ugh. I was a gym rat. Never again. The smells of most gyms are awful and you’re stuck inside on beautiful days. I prefer to be outside at a gorgeous park spending time with women I have grown to know and love!

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I can honestly say I am a roller coaster with my weight and fitness. Right now I am so happy with my results. In just the last year, I have lost 26 lbs and who knows how many inches. I finally said goodbye to my injury weight and I will never see it again! The results make me feel happy, proud, lighter, stronger and much healthier.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

I attend mornings, mostly 7:15 and Sabrina is who beats me up the most :0. She knows how to push me and motivate me all at the same time. It’s what I need. Jaylin is a breath of fresh air on Wednesday mornings. Seeing her smiling face makes my face happy! I trained with Sarah a ton back in the day – Loved every second of it and miss her SOOOO much. Ro is awesome but she wakes up too early for me to see her! Maybe someday I will join her and Julie Jamison at the 6am class.

What is your favorite/least favorite exercise?

Favorite – Squats of any kind Least Favorite – pushups

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

Seeing my favorite women during the workout and celebrating their accomplishments. We all have individual goals and I love seeing everybody reach theirs.

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

Set a date, a goal and just start. The hardest part is starting. Set realistic and small goals to help you reach your big goal. Reward yourself (not with food) but with other things like a new purse or trip when you reach milestones.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you ladies for all your support! I couldn’t do this without you 🙂 XOXO

Thank you Miss Julie! We love training and dancing with you!
