Featured Bootique Client – Emily

Congratulations Miss October!

We are proud to announce Emily as our Featured Bootique Client!

A strong exercise enthusiast, Emily is great at getting to classes. She dove right into boot camp and dance fitness. Even though she travels a lot, I never have to worry about her attendance. I’m happy to see she’s always on the schedule when she’s in town.

Sarah and Sabrina have a much longer history with her as they all did Spartan races back in the day. We love to see our ladies all intertwining with each other throughout our fitness journeys.

Sarah adds: “Emily and I have done a Spartan Race together, shes very much a woman who will try anything and have fun doing it. Shes a wiseass which I love and she works hard. I enjoy her wise comments when she complains, because I know she secretly loves the work.”

What would you like people to know about you?

I am native San Diegan, since age 5. My dad lived in Alaska when I was growing up so went back and forth summers and Christmases. I have 5 siblings total between my parents. I am a mom – have a 24 yr old son and 17 yr old daughter, who are my very favorite people 🙂 Since I grew up here I have an amazing support system, extended family and friend group, and I know I am incredibly lucky.

I have been a registered nurse for a total of 18 yrs, have done mostly pediatrics including PICU, IMU, home care, orthopedics, medical/ surgical and oncology, and now a pediatric nurse practitioner for past 7 yrs. I also try and volunteer as much as possible, Joan Croc, medical clinics are my regulars.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of our classes?

I am huge into avoiding chemicals in products in my home and on my skin. I am an essential oils girl. I also am big into healthy eating, organic eating and believe that what we put into our bodies contributes to health and anti-aging… I am 70 years old! hahahaha I love live music of all kinds, wait- except electronic rave (gross). I prefer being outdoors and love hiking, camping and just started doing more backpacking. I travel as much as possible. I always have trips booked to look forward to – currently trips planned to hike Mt. Whitney next weekend, Denver, Paris, Mexico, but I am sure I will plan more ASAP. I started attempting meditation about 1 yr ago, and found that Float Therapy aka deprivation tanks is where its at for me, I go weekly now.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

Planning to take a minimum of 1 year off to travel and work my way around the US by beginning of 2021!

Wanna share a guilty pleasure?

Wine, although it is technically not that bad in moderation…

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

I started with Bootigue with the last little black dress program in March.

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

I had gained 20 pounds over the previous year and was having a hard time dropping it. I was in a slump, I was exercising most days but not seeing the results I wanted to see. I used to run a lot and was in great shape but I just got bored with running and was looking for something else I could stick with. I still do hot yoga, spin, hikes, and occasional tap classes.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I am definitely stronger, and losing inches for sure. Weight has been slowly coming off but I feel good so not worried about it!

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

I have been impressed with the variety of workouts. I feel supported when it comes to correct form and they are always willing to make modifications if someone needs it.

What are your favorite/least favorite exercises?

I love stair workouts, but I tend to prefer to go in the mornings so I don’t get many of them.
I won’t comment on least favorite! HAHA

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

I am all about ease when it comes to exercise. The Civita 6 am classes fit into my schedule perfectly and are super close to home.

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

I always have said that you have to do something!! and if its not working, do something else! Exercise shouldn’t be painful and should be a routine. For me that is a bigger challenge than diet.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you!

Thank you Emily! We love having you in our Bootique family.
