Bootique Featured Client – Shannon

Congratulations Miss July!

We are proud to announce Shannon as our Featured Bootique Client!

From my experience, Shannon is a woman of few words. In fact, I learned more about her in this featured blog than from over a year of dancing with her. Fortunately for dance class – words are unnecessary. I love seeing Shannon take on the songs and enjoy the music! And I really appreciate seeing the sincere head nod and namaste hands as we celebrate at the end of each class.

Check out her very effective accountability partners below. Love it!

What would you like people to know about you?

I am originally from South Lake Tahoe. I went to college at UC Santa Cruz where I majored in Languages and Linguistics. Next I joined AmeriCorps where I served for 2 years in Salinas, CA. I then decided to move to San Diego to pursue my Teaching credential. I teach at a small charter school. I taught first grade last year and will be teaching third grade this year. I live in University Heights with my husband (who teaches kindergarten) and our dog name Dinosaur.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of our classes?

I read a lot. I have read 90 books so far this year.
I also like to go camping.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

I used to teach dance to elementary schoolers K-6. It was fun but hard because I taught in a regular classroom not a dance studio and many of the students were not particularly excited about being forced to take a dance class. I tried to make it fun though. My sixth graders did a thriller flash mob.

Wanna share a guilty pleasure?

I love staying up late and sleeping in late. It is so hard to get to those morning classes!

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

Ummm? More than a year I guess??

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

At the school I work at, we have to set goals and model this for our students. I set the goal to work out 3 times a week and my whole class was my accountability partner (having 25 6 year olds judge you for not going to Zumba is very motivating). Now I feel like a good role model for how to set and meet a goal. I also model how to forgive myself and recommit when I don’t meet my goal.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I am stronger and have better cardiovascular endurance.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

Everybody is very nice!

What is your favorite/least favorite dances?

Favorites: Tip Toe, Freaky Friday, Finesse
Least Favorite: Terrible

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

The choreography is next level.

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

The more you go, the easier it gets.

Thank you Shannon. We love dancing with you!
