Dr Katie Fox talks about Migraines and Chiropractic Care

Katie’s Korner

After a quick anatomy lesson, Dr Katie Fox talks about how chiropractic treatment can help alleviate migraine pain. When there is impingement or pressure on the nerves from the spine to the head, the direct result would be a headache. There are a number of different types of headaches. Migraine headaches tend to be more vascular based, they have to do more with blood flow.

The goal of chiropractic care with migraine headaches

There is a lot of musculature that leads up through the cervical area of the spine. A chiropractor is going to access the hypertonicity of the muscles as well as the movement and pressure on these areas. From there, they will focus on alleviating the the pressure.

Chiropractic adjustments are used to treat migraine pain.

Adjustments are a direct, gentle force and pressure to the joint to recreate motion and restore your bodies natural desire to move.

Other lifestyle factors may be attributing to migraine headaches.

A chiropractic visit will not only provide an adjustment but will look at other factors like menstral cycle, caffeine, sleep, stress… that may be causing the migraine.
