April Featured Bootique Client – Chris

Congratulations Chris!

We are proud to announce Chris as our Featured Bootique Client!

Chris has been a long time member of the Bootique family having joined us in June of 2011. I’ve only had the pleasure of training her on a couple of holiday workouts so I’ll let her regular trainers Sarah and Sabrina chime in.

Sarah: “Always has funny snide remarks to let us know she’s feeling the workout! Chris has been with us a long time, I really enjoy her company and the family feel she brings our morning sessions! Even with an injury she knows how to modify exercises on her own and keep pushing herself.”

Sabrina: “Chris has a great attitude. I enjoy training her – especially so when she brings her dog for me to play with.”

What would you like our community to know about you?

I am the proud wife of Scott and mother to two wonderful sons. I work for myself and love the flexibility that gives me. To make my work day even better, I share an office with my husband and I get to bring my Great Dane to the office with me every day.

Chris’s Experience with Bootique Fitness

Chris talks about how she came to work out with us and what her experience has been like in our San Diego boot camp.

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

Since quilting is my favorite hobby it is really important that I get other exercise in every day. I’ve been training with Bootique Fitness three days a week for almost 5 years.

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness?

I’ve always been a walker and would put in about four miles a day at a very good pace.

When I turned 55 I realized that I was not as strong in my upper body as I used to be so I started looking around for an exercise class that would let me work out before work. I tried a few others but they were geared toward men and I never felt like I fit in. I found Bootique and never looked back.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I am so much stronger now. I can easily carry the 40-pound bags of food we buy for our dog. I can do push-up and way more ab exercises than I ever thought possible. I am so much more confident about tackling big projects or adventures than is reasonable! We recently went to Machu Pichu and I handled all those stairs much more easily than I thought I would. I was never sore at the end of a day, it was great!

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

I love all the trainers at Bootique. They make our workouts challenging but fun. I have never done the same workout twice in all the years I’ve been coming so I have never gotten bored. Even on days when I might not want to get up I always know how much better I’ll feel after my workout and I always feel great – tired but so satisfied and virtuous!!.

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

It also gives me lots of bragging rights. Not many women my age are willing to work out vigorously.

Why should other women just like you consider Bootique Fitness as their solution?

I think they should give it a try because the trainers are so open to changing any exercise up to make it work for everyone in the class. For example, I tweaked my elbow doing yard work and for the few weeks till it got better, Sabrina and Sara gave me modifications for exercises that would have interfered with my recovery.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Any working woman of any age should join us. I have found such a core group of friends here. We have fun, we share successes and adventures. We challenge each other and support each other. I can’t say often enough how important the camaraderie is to me. It is not too hard!! You can ease in to it and build up till you are doing everything that the rest of the class can do.
