When Leila first started exercising with us, she considered working out a “necessary evil”. So much so that for the first few workouts, she would develop migraines after boot camp. Rather than give up, she decided to talk with me about this obstacle. Once we talked about how the body can manifest reasons to cause you to feel like you have to stop doing something you don’t want to do and how she has the power to change her thoughts about that – the migraines went away!
Not only has Leila stuck with her fitness program all this time, but because she experienced such a rough start, she’s been the perfect ally for newbies who feel challenges about started a new fitness lifestyle. Indeed, Leila has inspired many of our boot campers to keep going!
Leila is a winner of the 6 Week ‘Renew You’ Challenge! The purpose of this challenge was to inspire our ladies to change the way they think and feel about food, exercise and their bodies. Leila does an excellent job of explaining profound changes she accomplished.
“I was so hesitant and afraid of getting into this 6-week challenge. I learned that you begin to love exercise when you become good at it. That is an answer I can live with. I was always asking, do people really LOVE to exercise?? And now, I think my goal is to be really good at it, so I will love it more.
I have been consistent with boot camp, attending 3 times a week for a few months now. Consistency of exercise is a huge victory for me, and has broken a pattern that really bothered me. Also, this is the first time that when I was out of town, I really planned how I would exercise and followed through. This was another victory and pattern broken. I am very thankful for this!
At the beginning of the challenge I was angry and did not want to limit my food intake. I wanted to eat what I wanted whenever I wanted. The simplest email from Jaylin that was sent last week, truly changed my thinking and produced a much wanted result. She said if you’ve been working out and you’re still not seeing a change, you may want to keep a food journal. If you have resistance to this, ask yourself why, and that may give you the answer to why you haven’t seen the results you want. It was simple. I did not want to be accountable.
Once I accepted that, I felt so free! I have been using the Fitness Pal app to record my food for the last week, and surprisingly love the accountability. I finally believe that I can achieve the results I want physically. And emotionally, and creatively I have experienced a significant shift.
I feel more confident, secure, and happy!
I am happy with my results. I uncovered serious mental blocks that were keeping me from achieving my goals In the past (described above). I would like to continue the journey and enroll in a 6-week challenge part 2 :). I think pairing consistency of exercise with the Fitness Pal app is going to help me achieve more of the physical results I was hoping to see at the beginning of the challenge. One step at a time, right? Right.”

What would you like people to know about you?
I love being a wife to my hubby, a step-mom to my two handsome teenage boys, and an auntie to the best 9 month-old baby in the whole world.
I am ambitious, passionate, and caring… Also, clumsy… a common phrase around my house is “Are you alright, dear?”
I am the Director of the Outreach Program at a local Acupuncture and Massage Therapy College. I enjoy networking and creating strategic partnerships.
Call me any day for a trip to the beach, a glass (or two) of wine, a spontaneous road trip, or a walk around our fabulous city.
Leila’s Experience with Bootique Fitness
Leila talks about how she came to work out with us and what her experience has been like in our San Diego boot camp.
How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?
Since October 2012… a whole year and a half!
What was your life like before Bootique Fitness?
I was stuck in a cycle. I would try to work out, stick with it for 1 month and then stop for 2 months. I was full of “shoulds” which was not good for my psyche! I knew I “should” exercise, I “should” change my body, I “should” be consistent.
What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?
My “shoulds” have turned to “wants.”
The results are so significant and lasting. Sure, I have lost weight and inches. But, the most significant result is my mental outlook. Exercise is no longer a chore. It is part of my lifestyle. I promise!
What is the biggest difference in your life since you started Bootique Fitness?
Bootique has a serious “trickle down” effect. I have gone to boot camp regularly for an entire year. I am happier, healthier, and empowered in all aspects of my life!
Tell me about your experience with the trainers.
These ladies are pure gold. They are committed, caring, sassy, and LOVE to make us do burpees.
They never gave up on me, even when I was ready to give up. It’s a beautiful thing that has challenged me to accept more goodness and health into my life. THANK YOU!
What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?
I enjoy the accountability, support, and all of the laughs we manage to have during the toughest work-outs I have experienced.
Why should other women just like you consider Bootique Fitness as their solution?
Seriously, do yourself the biggest favor… don’t consider Bootique Fitness as your solution… commit to it being your solution. It will change your life. No doubt about it. I would bet my paycheck on it.
