Featured Bootique Client – Shannon

Congratulations Miss November!

We are proud to announce Shannon as our Featured Bootique Client!

Since Sarah and Sabrina get to train her mostly, I asked Sarah to give the intro:

“We are so fortunate to see that she always shows up with a smile. Shes quiet but puts in the work. Its wonderful to have her back after a hiatus. A Bootique Boomeranger as I like to call her. :)” – Sarah

What would you like people to know about you?

I am a San Diego native, but I’ve lived all over California. I live with my husband, 2 stepchildren (teenagers), Stella-the reclusive cat and Gracie-the deaf, exuberant, lovable boxer dog. My career is in marketing, and I’ve been very fortunate to work for some amazing companies.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of our classes?

I love to read, travel, do yoga, go hiking, throw dinner parties and hanging out with my dog.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

I make a mean fried egg sandwich!

Wanna share a guilty pleasure?

Wine and cheese. I think I was French in a previous life!

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

I was a member back in 2011/2012. I re-joined in May 2018.

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

I went through very aggressive treatment for breast cancer a few years ago, and it left me weak and gave me a crappy metabolism (I’m not gonna lie, the wine and cheese didn’t help!). Getting strong was my main motivation for re-joining Bootique Fitness. Now that I’m attending classes regularly I’m more motivated to eat better and to get in other workouts.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I feel strong! My initial goal was to be able to feel more confident working out with my co-workers at our office gym. But my wins have gone beyond that and surprised me. I’m able to do things now that I couldn’t do before like spending the entire day gardening, going on long hikes, and lifting heavy items at work. These may not seem like big things to most, but for me they are huge. Cancer treatment may have kicked cancer’s butt, but it also kicked mine. I’m continuously amazed and grateful that my body made it through treatment and is now able to get strong again.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

The trainers are all amazing. I work the most with Sabrina, and her enthusiasm and good energy are contagious. The trainers are supportive and encouraging and they inspire me to give it my all in each workout.

What is your favorite/least favorite exercise?

I like the ab exercises the best, and I am not a big fan of any jumping exercises.

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

The trainers, the workouts and the class members keep me coming back. But the unexpected perk is being outside. I hate stinky gyms!

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

Just jump in! The first workout is the hardest, but it gets easier with each class. In the beginning I would get winded and tired with the warm-up, and doing any running was near impossible. Now I can see how far I have come, and the feeling of accomplishment is so rewarding.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
