Can You Dance Your Way Fit?

Dancing is a total body workout that isn’t just a great way to get in shape, it’s also an excellent mood booster. Dancing raises your heart rate and uses virtually every muscle group in your body. Some types of dance are more vigorous than others, but no matter what you choose, you will be doing your body good.

Each dance class will have it’s own primary focus. For instance, ballet is focused on technique and skill, choreographed classes are focused on execution of moves… The primary focus of our dance fitness class is FUN!

The way we have so much fun is moving ourselves to high energy beats which means we get to enjoy a killer cardio session. Dance fitness goes beyond cardio to engage the bodies muscular aspects as well.

Dance fitness works the whole body

Glutes: Squatting, kicking and jumping are all beneficial aspects of dance that help tighten your booty

Core: Dancing doesn’t happen without your core. All that hip action is sure to give you an enviable mid-section

Legs: From hamstrings to quads to calves, dancing helps you get lean, shapely legs

Arms: Pumping your fists and waving your arm up in the air will create a nice little burn on your shoulders and arm muscles

Back: Put your back into it! Movement from your arms and core activate your back muscles

Dancing is FUN!

You know that feeling you get when you hear your favorite upbeat song and it just makes you want to move? Our brains are wired to feel stimulated when we engage in coordinated movement. Dancing triggers endorphins which improves mood and fights off depression. Dancing also keeps your mind active. It improves blood flow to the brain and stimulates memory by working to remember all those steps.

Improve your social life

It’s hard to be a wall flower when you hear that funky beat. Joining a dance class or taking dance lessons encourages you to meet other people and make new friends. Dancing provides a natural ice breaker, too. From the moment you step into that class you will have something in common with everyone in the room. New to dancing?
