Meet Mona

We’ve started a new feature to celebrate our amazing clients. Each month, we will highlight one of our women that has made incredible progress and truly brings great energy to class.

The first client we are celebrating is Mona B Riise! She’s originally from Norway, but moved to San Diego a few years ago with her husband and two dogs. She works as a journalist for Norwegian TV, radio and print.

She loves her job because she works with some of her favorites in the music and film industry. She’s always skipping out of town to interview guys like George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Justin Bieber.

When she is in town, you’ll find her at every boot camp and Zumba class possible. It’s no wonder that this energetic lady has lost over 30 lbs already. She will often grab another Bootique’er and go for a run around Balboa Park after boot camp. We’re so very proud of how far she has come!

Mona’s Experience with Bootique Fitness

Mona talks about how she came to workout with us and what her experience has been like in boot camp and Zumba.

How long have you trained at Bootique Fitness?

I started training at Bootique just over a year ago now.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness?

A lot. I have never managed to work-out in my life. I actually started skipping my gym classes in second grade. I have started different exercise classes many times, but never felt that I could do it. So the fact that i feel I can manage to work out, and to do physical challenges is a big mental change.

Being happy to work out and enjoying it, and not being scared to try new physical challenges is maybe the result im most happy and proud of. I also feel much stronger, healthier and have lost 30 pounds. So that’s amazing.

What are your reasons for sticking with Bootique Fitness all this time?

When I started my level was so bad and low, but i felt that I still, with adjustments, could be a part of the class. Being part of a bigger group with all different levels felt good. Jaylin has also been amazingly supportive and encouraging without being too pushy. It works and if you miss a class, you can always go to another one. I travel a lot for work, but usually i still manage to catch up.

You train with Jaylin and Ed mostly. Tell me about what that is like?

Jaylin and Ed are great trainers and their training program works ! its fun (hehe most of the time) and it goes by fast. When I have had issues with hurting hips, lower back pain or sore muscles – they always find solutions to solve the problems.

Ed has also been helpful with nutrition, even if i haven’t really started to change too much of my diet… yet.

Jaylin is also an amazing zumba-instructor! World class and crazy fun.

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

The whole experience. I thought I was a lost cause. Bootique has changed my life, so I guess Bootique Fitness can change others.
