Add Some Holiday Cheer To Spice Up Your Boring Breakfast

Starting your day off with the right foods can make the difference between staying satisfied until lunch or consuming every snack in site before noon. There are so many options for breakfast, it can be hard to decipher what’s best. One of our favorite ways to start the day is with oats and with so many ways to incorporate them, breakfast will never be boring!

The first thing to remember is to avoid those pre-made, sugar laden oatmeal packets at the grocery store. Grab a pot and opt for steel cut oats that you cook on the stove. If you want to add more flavor, add a dash of cinnamon and some almond milk to up the yum factor. Oats are packed with fiber and keep you feeling fuller, longer.

Short on time in the morning? Another awesome choice is overnight oats. Just make them at night before bed and they will be ready for a great grab and go breakfast in the morning. Pecan Pie Overnight Oats:

½ cup oats
2/3 cup almond milk
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp chopped pecans
Mix, refrigerate overnight and enjoy!

Oats can be used in muffins, granola, smoothies or as a topping for so many yummy breakfasts the possibilities are endless.

Another great option is to cut an apple into large chunks, toss in cinnamon, microwave and top with plain Greek yogurt and oats for a delicious, healthy breakfast apple crumble.
