Bootique Featured Client – Jamila

Congratulations Miss February!

We are proud to announce Jamila as our Featured Bootique Client!

This woman is all smiles and she lights up our dance studio every time she walks in! I especially love seeing her groove to Mackelmore’s “Glorious” (we share that as a favorite song at the moment) and get down to our most notable old school routine – Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison”.

What would you like people to know about you?

I work part time as a college counselor and also teach online. My husband, who is a middle school history teacher, and I just celebrated out 10 year wedding anniversary in July. I have two kiddos. A girl, Harper, who will be 9 in March, and a boy, Miles, who is 5. The only reason I miss class is because of their sports schedules, or I run late working with a student. But thank goodness for the YouTube videos Jaylin has posted so I can still get my dancing in.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

I LOVE to dance! Really truly LOVE to dance. Anyone who knows me can attest to that. As corny as it sounds it is one of the times I feel most free. I will dance anywhere. In the store (Sprouts always has good music), in the car, standing in line. If the music is going, I will dance. Music is always on in my house and we have many a dance parties in the kitchen.

How about sharing one of your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is Prosecco, Gummi Bears (only the Haribo brand though) and reading trashy romance novels.

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

I’ve been with Dance Party Fitness since October 2015.

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

The biggest change is my consistency.

I’ve done Pilates, Yoga, kickboxing, walking, and step aerobics in the past, but this is the first class I’ve been consistent with for two years. And I can’t imagine that changing anytime soon.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

While I haven’t had tremendous results as far as the scale or the way my clothes fit is concerned, (which has more to do with my love of Prosecco and not the trainers) this is the first exercise routine I’ve stuck with.

What are your favorite/least favorite dances?

I have a ton of favorites from class. Except “Bring em’ out”. I love How Low from Ludacris as it reminds me of my first class. My current favorite is Glorious. That songs makes me so happy and hopeful. I really like the fact new dances are added constantly. It helps me never be bored.

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

I had been searching for Zumba or dance class close to home that fit with my schedule. I did a search, this class popped up and I remember walking in the door, meeting Jaylin and her telling me “there’s no such thing as messing up, we just call it freestyle”. I liked her instantly! That first class was so fun! I had no idea what the dances were, but I couldn’t stop smiling (and sweating.) Needless to say I was hooked.

Thank you Jamila! We love training you!
