Bootique Featured Client – Aimee

Congratulations Miss September!

We are proud to announce Aimee as our Featured Bootique Client!

Oh how I look forward to seeing what Aimee’s snarky t-shirt is going to say each class. She has a great collection. I love the energy she brings to our class from throwing down for “Downtown” or joyously rising up with “Glorious” – lest we forget about her special arms for “Good Ol’ Days” – apparently my connection with Aimee has a lot to do with Mackelmore songs. 🙂 (Thanks Macklemore!)

Our connection goes beyond the music as you’ll see below, Aimee is a true blessing in this world and I appreciate her shiny, happy beacon of light (and that loose screw). I’m proud to serve on her trivia team and I am honored to call the “A team” family!

What would you like people to know about you?

I am a third-generation San Diegan, and I love living in this city. I have worked for over 2 decades marketing and communicating some of the most beautiful and fun places to visit here in San Diego. I live with my boyfriend Jim, and my little bitty pitty, Stella, and I love to wear snarky T-shirts for Dance Fitness.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of our classes?

I love shoes. The sassier the better. I also like to travel, cook, read, and bet the max with my trivia team. GO J is for Genius!! I am also a card-carrying, necklace-wearing OG member of the A Team.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

I had brain surgery 2 years ago, and I have worked hard to overcome and adjust to side effects and deficits as a result of the surgery. I have come a long way, and get better every day.

Wanna share a guilty pleasure?

My shoes. I have a whole closet dedicated to my lovelies…Over 150 pair of shoes. From workout shoes, to tall boots, to stilettos, to platform peep-toes, there is a pair of almost every hue, heel height, and style.

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

I have be attending Dance Fitness for a little over 2 years.

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

I mostly walked for exercise, either alone or with my dog. Bootique Fitness has brought me into a great, supportive, friendly family, that makes me want to work out, which I have never experienced before in my life. The ability to come and have fun with others, while still holding myself as my inspiration and motivation is a wonderful feeling.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I suffer from exercise induced asthma, but I find Dance Fitness keeps me in better cardiovascular shape, as well as, enhanced strength, balance, and coordination. And I found that the more I go, the more I sweat, and the more I sweat, the more I am motivated to work harder in the next class. I love it when I can push myself a little harder, or kick a little bit higher, or nail that step that has been a challenge for weeks.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

Motivation, dedication, accountability…These are probably what you think are required of me at Bootique…And that is true. But, to get the one-on-one communication and incentive to show up and be a part of something great is contagious. How can you not be inspired when you have trainers that lead by example, but also pay attention to each individual, and every goal, and help support everyone on their individual journeys. It is an incredible attention to detail you will not find in other trainers.

What are your favorite/least favorite dances?

I like them all, but my very favorite right now is “Glorious”by Macklemore (featuring Skylar Grey). It is a very fun dance, but the lyrics remind me that I have gotten a second chance to live my life to fullest, and I never can forget how lucky I am to have that. It is a very personal song for me, and to get to do a fun dance to it reminds me to always live my best life!

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

I like the support, camaraderie, smiles, and friendly atmosphere. No judgement, just fun. That is not something I expected in a workout class. Working hard while having fun is amazing, and getting to spend time with those who want me to succeed, as much as I want them to succeed seems to be a rarity in life, and I feel that at Bootique. I am my own goal…Not to be better than anyone else, but to be a better version of myself.

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

Find the thing that makes you happy, the thing that gives you a sense of accomplishment. Not every workout is for everyone, but there is something out there that makes you feel strong and you know you have changed your body and life for the better when you are done with a session. For me, dancing is something I enjoy, and the variety of types of dance, and musical genres keeps me on my toes, and delights me. I don’t have to be perfect, I just have to put effort into it, and it will come. But until then, I am having a blast. Find that for yourself, and working out and feeling good will be one in the same. Don’t give up! It is never too late to start!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Finding my fun in exercise was never something I thought I would achieve. But thanks to Jaylin and Bootique, I continue to find strength I never knew I had, and sing and laugh while I am doing it! Try it! You might love it too!!
