Featured Bootique Client – Nicole

Congratulations Miss June!

We are proud to announce Nicole as our Featured Bootique Client!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Nicole for the past 5 years! From the day she set foot into our dance class back at Liberty Station, to the numerous times she has helped to heal me on your acupuncture table – this woman is incredible. She’s also raining an incredible woman – one of our younger Bootique’ers, her daughter Neela is a joy to watch grow up.

Speaking of acupuncture – Nicole is one of the featured practitioners at our Holistic Happy Hour on June 23rd. Come get treated by her there or contact her at her office. You’ll be glad you did!! Remember to Breathe

What would you like people to know about you?

I was born and raised in San Diego. When I was 20 I met my first mentor who I began training with in martial arts and also was teaching me about holistic medicine, meditation and Western herbs. This guided me in the direction of attending Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where I spent 4 years studying (acupuncture, massage, Chinese herbs) and working in the student clinic. In 2000 I graduated with a Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine and decided it was time for my brain to have a little break before jumping into a full time career so I moved to Australia and traveled for a year. It was there I met my husband (who is actually from Ireland) and at the end of the year of play and travel we moved back to San Diego, got married and had a beautiful daughter, Neela, a year later. I have been in practice as an acupuncturist since 2001 and opened my own clinic Remember to Breathe in 2006. I am now divorced and Neela is almost 14, wow time has flown by! I am so lucky to have so many amazing friends in my life and my family who are all so supportive of my business, me and Neela.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of our classes?

Painting, hiking & camping, Eating (love eating), movies, Girls Night out with my besties, hanging out with my kiddo and being the leader of her Girl Scout troop.

How about sharing one of your guilty pleasure?

French fries and chocolate shake, yum!

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

I think it’s been around 5 years now

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

If it’s not in my schedule it will most likely not happen. As a single mom, running my own business and also taking on the position of co-leader for Neela’s Girl Scout troop 6 years ago my schedule was full. I enjoy working out once I’m in a routine. But the stress of the divorce and getting my business up and running and raising a 3 year old at the time left very little me time. Plus, I need it to be something fun that I look forward to otherwise it is too easy to fall off the exercise wagon. When I met Jaylin and started taking her Dance Fitness classes, I instantly fell in love. I know it’s in my best interest to also be doing some sort of weight/strength training also, which I haven’t been consistent with. At least I know I will get my cardio in every week with dance, because it’s fun, a class full of women, good energy and amazing stress/tension reliever.

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I feel great, regular cardio makes a huge difference in stress & tension release through my whole body. When I am working out regularly and keeping to a healthy eating routine during the work week (allowing myself to splurge a bit on the weekends) my weight has maintained where I feel happy and comfortable, I sleep better and overall mood is better through busy work weeks.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

So far I have only taken the Dance Fitness classes with Jaylin 🙂 Super fun instructor!

What are your favorite/least favorite songs/dances?

Least favorite, ha ha, pretty much an salsa songs with fast paced fancy foot work. Favorites, the other 90% 😆

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

That it is a fun environment and I look forward to going to classes.

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

You just have to jump in an do it, once you begin and you have that momentum going of being in your new health routine it just becomes who you are and only gets easier and easier.

Thank you Miss Nicole! We love training you!
