Summer Meltdown

Anytime is a good time to melt off those unwanted pounds and to get your health on track; but summertime is the time to take advantage of outdoor fitness (nice weather and longer days), seasonal healthy foods, and summer activities to keep active and fit. The trick is to try a little of bit of everything (foods and activities) and stick to what gives you results and what makes you feel powerful!

The Great Outdoors

What better way to melt those pounds away than with an outdoor workout! Of course, Bootique has you covered on that one. Boot camp and yoga sessions held outside can be a refreshing way to not only get fit, but a healthy change of mind. Being indoors all day at your job or at home with the kids, doing chores, etc…can give you a case of cabin fever. Once you step outside and join the rest of the workout crew, you’ll already feel energized by the sunshine and fresh air. Pair that with a high energy sweat session, and you’ll feel good as new.

Seasonal Fruits and Veggies

As we all know, there are some foods that have their season. Summertime is the best season for berries, citrus, melons, cucumbers, tomatoes, leafy greens; you name it! Take advantage of these tasty foods while they are at their peak. Experiment with different salads, cut up some cold watermelon, and try different fruits and leafy greens for your morning smoothies. Look for good deals at y our local grocery, or make a fun day of it by going to your farmers market. No excuses for not getting fresh fruits and veggies during this time of year!

Fun in the Sun

Need a little variety? Between traditional organized workout sessions, make your workout into a fun activity!

Paddle boarding, surfing, and swimming, kayaking, beach volleyball, bike riding etc… Plan a day for a group activity or fly solo. With such wonderful weather, it’s such a waste to stay inside or to not keep you body moving. Whichever activity you chose, you will still burn calories, get toned, and get a nice tan while you are at it (don’t forget your sunscreen!). Remember to keep hydrated! Bring your favorite water bottle and refill throughout the day. Wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun and to help keep you body temperature down. Too hot to be outdoors? Don’t forget Zumba and yoga with Bootique held indoors!

Summertime is full of healthy food, fun, and fitness. Tap into resources to take advantage of the season and make it work for you and your body. Ask fellow fitness buddies about their favorite recipes they use that are healthy and that call for seasonal fruits and veggies. Make a weekly and weekend schedule with a mixture of Bootique classes and outdoor hobbies you can choose from. Once you have found your favorite summertime activities and combine these with healthy eating, you’re not only set for summertime, but for all the seasons to come!
