Egg Nog

It’s that time of year again, which means plenty of parties, cocktails and treats in the following weeks. But don’t let holiday cheer have a lasting effect on your rear. While you may bend the rules more this month for an extra taste of dessert, let’s not forget that there are healthier versions of these traditional indulgences. Like egg nog; it’s comforting, creamy and packed with calories. Instead of the hearty store-bought brands, try making this easy recipe at home for a guilt-free snack at right around 150 calories. The recipe makes 3 servings, is simple but needs plenty of time to chill.

Serves: 3

1/2 cup egg substitute
  • 2 cups skim milk
  • 1/2 cup fat-free creamer
  • 2 tbs sugar substitute
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice
  • (Need your spirits to deal with those extra guests in town? Add 2 tsp rum extract; or 2 tbs rum, brandy, or bourbon)

Pour ingredients into a container, mixing until thickened.
  2. Cover egg nog and allow to chill for at least 2 hours.
