Believe it or not, summer is just around the corner…which also means bathing suit season is almost here. If the thought of putting on a two piece sends you into a panic, fret not! Here are a few things you can do to prepare for the season.

You are beautiful

The first rule to remember is, you are beautiful exactly the way you are. Whatever you feel comfortable wearing to the beach is what you should wear and don’t worry about what anyone thinks. No one looks like those air brushed models in real life, not even the models! So, suit up and enjoy your day at the beach.

Add weights

Weights are an important part of your fitness routine. They build lean muscle and help you look and feel fab. If you aren’t already using weights in your fitness regime, it’s time to add them. Start off small with five or ten pounds and as the moves start to get easier, work your way up to a heavier set.

Make a plan

Create your meal and workout plan and stick to it. Schedule your workouts in your calendar like you would any appointment and plan your meals for the week each Sunday. Having a plan in place will help ensure you make healthier choices when temptation arises.

Sign up for fitness classes

Joining a group fitness class will help hold you accountable to your workouts and when you are feeling less than motivated to go, they will help light the fire under you to attend. Set a goal

Saying “I want to get in shape” isn’t going to make it happen. Set a goal and lay out the ways in which you will reach your goal. Use a calorie counting and fitness tool such as My Fitness Pal to help you track what you eat and when you work out. If you are honest in your reports, you will see where you are succeeding and where there is room for improvement.

Above all, wanting to get in shape and lead a healthier life shouldn’t just be because summer is coming. If your desire to be healthier is so you can have a more fulfilling life and do the activities you enjoy, you are more likely to reach your goals…and rock that bathing suit.
