Valentine’s Day – just 6 weeks into the year

It just doesn’t seem to make sense that the ‘most romantic day’ of the year is only a short month and a half after the biggest, most fattening holiday season of the year? That is a very quick period of time to lose all that extra holiday weight and be able to feel your sexiest in your new Victoria Secret’s lingerie.

Toss out the temptation! There is no reason to still have candy and deserts left over from the holidays. So throw it out or give it to someone that will enjoy it. Resist the temptation to buy unhealthy treats. Really focus on what is entering your body; you have the power to make the right choices. Don’t get too crazy, if it’s something you really want, have a little – such as a little bit of Valentine’s Day chocolate from your sweetheart.

Have a plan! Maybe you set a new year’s resolution but you haven’t really made any changes yet (or experienced any results for that matter…) Don’t just say your are going to do something, get focused and figure out a plan that works for you. Know what you are going to eat and what you are going to skip on. Make a grocery list and stick to it. Organize your workout plan and get the ball rolling. There is no time to push this stuff off… In order to get anywhere, you must get started – start now!

Run, Jump, Shake, Pedal! Whatever you choose to do, get your heart pumping. Cardio is going to help you not only shed those pesky pounds, but also make you feel and look better. Remember to include strength training as well. Balance the two out, but stick to a routine including both of them. Booze… Buh Bye! Give all types of alcohol a break. Over the holidays, pouring a drink seemed to make sense. Well, it’s not the holidays anymore so it is time to move on. By cutting out those empty calories that alcohol so graciously provides you, your muffin top will start to deflate much quicker. It may seem like a lot to ask but when you start to see the results, you will be glad you did it. Besides, when you truly only drink on special occasions (no, Friday don’t count), it will make that glass of champagne you have on Valentine’s Day taste so much better!
