March 8th is International Women’s Day and as part of a tribe of amazing women, we feel it is so important to recognize the challenges we have faced and still face as women today as well as the perseverance women have exhibited through the years.
International Women’s Day is all about celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It has been observed since the early 1900’s and is a collective day of global celebration and a call for gender equality.
In honor of International Women’s Day, we wanted to highlight some ways we can encourage the women around us and help elevate each other to be the best.
Build each other up
Society seems to pit women against each other which aggravates the inequality issue. It’s time to lift each other up. One women’s success isn’t another women’s failure and the more we succeed, the stronger we become. Next time you see something in a woman that sparks a hint of envy, instead of beating yourself up because you don’t have what she has, compliment her on it. You never know the path someone else walks.
We are stronger together
Teaming up with women who have different strengths allows us to leverage our differences and grow together. We wouldn’t get very far if everyone was great at the same thing.
What happens when someone gives you a compliment out of the blue? It makes you feel great, right? If you see something you like about another woman, spread that positivity and tell them about it. You will make their day and give yourself the warm and fuzzies for spreading joy.
Respect each other’s differences. The world would be a boring place if everyone was the same. Take the opportunity to learn about one another no matter if it is a difference in beliefs or background. Learning about someone else’s culture, viewpoints or religion can be stimulating, and you may find you really aren’t as different as you think.
Be the change
Stop the cycle of tearing each other down. If someone is rude to you, brush it off and move on. You never know what’s going on in someone else’s life and it will only perpetuate the issue if you spread that hatred to others.
What achievement are you most proud of?
