How to Become a Morning Workout Enthusiast

Wouldn’t it be great to wake up with the sun every morning, feeling energized and ready to blast through your fitness class? They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. That’s three weeks of pushing through until a new routine comes naturally. The trick is to find the tricks that work best for you. Here are some of the most tried and true ways to coax yourself into waking up early for that morning workout, until it becomes habit.

1. Prepare the night before.

You’ll want to make this new morning ritual as easy as possible during the first few weeks, so set yourself up for success by doing the bulk of the work the night before. Wash your sports bra, fill up your water bottle and put your shoes by the door. Decide what you will eat pre and post workout and pack it in your bag. Some women even swear by wearing their gym clothes to sleep. They’re the most comfortable clothes you own anyway, right? The point is to wake up, fuel up and get your booty out the door!

2. Use the buddy system.

It’s much more difficult to cancel plans when you know someone is counting on you to be there. Bootique Fitness makes it easy to exercise with friends since classes are scheduled at times that work with almost everyone’s schedule. Plus, our trainers are there to hold you accountable as well – they’re your buddy too! We also love the idea of a little competition amongst friends. For example, make an agreement that the first person that misses a day has to bring orange slices to the next Personal Training Group class.

3. Wake up at the same time each day, even if you’re not scheduled for a class.

Going to sleep and waking up around the same time each day can adjust your circadian rhythm, making your sleep patterns more consistent and helping you feel more rested (and ready to rock our 6AM Personal Training Group Workout at Mission Bay Park!). Make sure you not only wake up, but also get out of bed at that time. Take your dog for a walk or cook a big, healthy breakfast. Just get up and get moving. Then, when you’re ready for an early morning Bootique Fitness class, you’ll be bright-eyed and ready to go!

Early morning workouts can seem intimidating at first but with a little effort and consistency, you’ll find yourself looking forward to them and that they come with ease. We love being able to check something healthy off our to-do list first thing in the morning. Start your day with energy and strength – and only good will follow!
