We know – this summer totally flew by for us too. But with the last bits of summer vacations, tanned skins, and family barbeques slowly fading into the back to school routines, its time to shed the ghosts of workouts missed and kick your workout routine back into action.
It can be really hard to get back into a regular workout routine after going though all the disruptions of the Summer, but we’re not about to let you get away with excuses.
But that’s the thing about hard work… it’s not supposed to be easy!
Here are a few common reasons people neglect their workouts and a few tips from our amazing group trainers to spin those negative thoughts into a killer booty.
Overcoming 3 Common Excuses To Avoid Exercising
Excuse #1: I’m not strong enough to exercise in a group.
We hear this one a lot – especially when the term ‘boot camp’ comes up. Often times, women mistakenly think that they need to get to a certain level before they can participate in group classes like ours.
Not only is this not true, our classes can be modified to suit any fitness level, but it also usually backfires. Sticking to an exercise program is hard enough when you have guidance, support and someone (me!) holding you accountable… it’s nearly impossible for most people to accomplish on their own.
Instead of assuming you’re not capable of exercising in a group, I encourage you to find the ‘right group’ that fits your needs and comfort level. Having a community makes it easier to stick to program.
Excuse #2: It’s too early/ I’m too tired.
The best fuel you can give your body when getting back into a workout routine is sleep. Exercise makes your body work hard and it needs time for rest and recovery – especially when adding in workouts like our San Diego Dance Fitness Party classes or any of our Personal Training Group classes. Fortunately, we have classes in the morning and evening for you convenience. Find a workout time that works best for you and make sure you plan a good amount of sleep into your daily routine… as tempting as one more episode of Scandal may be.
Excuse #3: I don’t have time.
I know it may feel this way… but there’s always time to do the things you really want to do. If you say you can’t find time to exercise and take care of yourself, what you’re really saying is that you won’t find time. It may take a bit of compromise to determine what you will and won’t fit into your day – but if it’s important to you – you’ll find time.
The trick is determine what you want the most. Do you want to feel fit, healthy and energetic… or do you want to binge watch fall tv?
Let technology help you find time in your schedule. If you’re always sleeping through your alarm, try an app that makes you get up before you can turn it off. If you’re constantly leaving work late because you lost track to time, set an alarm to remind you when it’s time to leave so that you can get to your workout.
By taking a few small steps towards creating a bigger fitness goal, not only will you ensure you stay accountable, you’ll also notice amazing progress that will keep you coming back for more! We can’t wait to see you in class!
