July Featured Boot Camp Client – Linda

Congratulations Linda!

We are proud to announce Linda as our Featured Boot Camp Client!

You’ll see below that Linda was diagnosed with arthritis in her hip just after she joined Bootique. One of the things I love about Linda is that she chose to listen to her body (and her trainers) and keep her body moving in a safe environment despite having been told by her doctor that she should quit. Because of this – not only are Linda’s health and hip in better condition – but she’s pain-free and enjoying exercising for the first time in her life! Movement really is the answer to good health! Just a couple of weeks ago, she updated me that her doctor said she would need surgery by now – but instead – her hip is in the best condition he’s ever seen it. So happy for her!

I love that I can also count on Linda to have enough music to run a Zumba class! I’m so appreciative that she loves our song choices and downloads them. There have been a couple of time that I’ve had ‘technical difficulties’ as in ‘Jaylin moments’ and have been able to rely on her playlists. She saved me on those days!

Linda is a wonderfully caring person, especially when it comes to her family. She’s encouraged her brother, Flavio, to become a regular Zumba member. He’s our resident guy in the class – very brave ;). We are lucky to have them both!

What would you like people to know about you?

Let’s see. I am a native San Diegan and although I’ve been blessed to travel and spend time abroad, San Diego is home and I can’t ever imagine living anywhere else. My original plan in life was to be a professor of Romance Languages. Somewhere along the road I ended up falling in love with the job I have now which is working for the Catholic Church around life and justice issues, with a particular emphasis on immigration and human trafficking issues. I enjoying reading, traveling, learning new things and love all sorts of music.

Linda’s Experience with Bootique Fitness

Linda talks about how she came to work out with us and what her experience has been like in our San Diego boot camp.

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

I’ve been training with Bootique Fitness for about 2.5 years. Wow, time flies when you’re having fun!

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness?

Before joining Bootique, I had had the usual gym memberships that I never used for more than a month, partly because I would easily get bored, lose interest, get discouraged and then just not go back. I remember telling Jaylin when I first joined that the minute I got bored, I was out of here. Well I have yet to be bored. Sore, but not bored. Yes, thank you Jaylin! (You’re welcome! – Jaylin)

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

Since coming to Bootique Fitness I have noticed that I am definitely physically stronger, a lot more limber, and definitely make healthier choices. I may have a way to go weight wise, but I’ll get there. Soon after I joined, I discovered that I have arthritis in my hip. My doctor wanted me to quit doing Zumba and consider giving up boot camp altogether. Two years later, much to his surprise, I am pain free, have much more mobility and better range of motion in my hip!

What is the biggest difference in your life since you started Bootique Fitness?

The biggest difference is that now I enjoy working it out.

Zumba and boot camp are regular appointments in my book and I schedule my work commitments around them as much as possible.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

All the trainers that I have worked with are awesome. They are ready with a modification, which I need more often than not, provide encouragement and always, always have a positive attitude. If ever I have a bad day, I know that after class I will walk away smiling.

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

Part of the reason I didn’t enjoy working out in gyms is that it wasn’t supportive environment and very solitary. At Bootique not only do you have supportive trainers, but they other ladies in class are very supportive and friendly as well. I have had the opportunity to meet many interesting, funny and beautiful ladies. Plus, you get to work out at the park or by the Bay. Why would you want to be cooped up in a smelly gym?!

Why should other women just like you consider Bootique Fitness as their solution?

If you’re looking for a fun, challenging, supportive and invigorating workout with positive results then this is the place. It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is, there is no judgment, just an encouraging and inspiring group of women.
