August Featured Bootique Client – Julie

Congratulations Miss August!

We are proud to announce Julie as our Featured Bootique Client!

What can we say about this fantastic, hard-working, sarcastic and wonderful lady… Ju-LEE is great! My favorites are her very unique head spins and her non-backing down, convincing attitude to get fellow classmates to commit to early classes (right Julie Ferneau and Kristy?). The entertainment doesn’t stop there. Give her a microphone and some 90’s R&B and this lady will put on a show!

Patience, love, kindness and knowledge are such inherent character traits that they are literally required for her chosen career. Her appetite for life (and 90’s R&B) are contagious, and talking to her instantly makes you feel better about any situation you may be dealing with. You can always count on Julie giving her honest opinion.

Sarah adds: “Julie makes me laugh and she tells me she appreciates my music list by singing along when she can breathe.” 🙂

A self declared non-morning person, Julie gives the most of herself to Sabrina – “She’s a smartass and I love it. She has been nominated by the Mission Bay 6 am class to give me dirty looks for everyone in class. She loves to talk back and dance when I’m not looking (but I have eyes in the back of my head soooo…) But beyond it all she will push her friends to work hard with her all while making them smile.”

This is why we love her!

What would you like our community to know about you?

Well I grew up in Florida. A couple of years ago I decided to leave hot and humid FL and so I started work as a travel nurse in Manhattan first for 2 years and then San Diego. Obviously I fell in love with San Diego and decided to stay. I worked as a pediatric intensive care unit nurse for about 8 years until last year when I started working as a pediatric nurse practitioner. I love working with children and all the positivity they can bring to an environment. I also love dogs and I have a very sweet 12 year old weimaraner mix, Kemper.

Tell us an interesting or unusual fact about yourself.

Julie let us know that she had some trouble talking about herself this way. So, with the help of her friends we decided to play a True or False game. Below, you’ll see several comments about Julie – some are true, others are false. Can you tell the difference?

I am a traveling nurse for a gay rugby team.

Every Mon, Weds, Fri, I wake up at 5am to run 5 miles before my 6am Bootique workout.

I spent one summer in the backcountry of Alaska learning how to wrestle grizzly bears,

I once auditioned for the role of Annie on Broadway. They didn’t cast me because of my height.

I can can sing any 90’s R&B hit without missing a single word.

I was the All American champion triple jump champion.

I can make my friends bend to my will by simply narrowing my eyes.

I was approached by Dos Equis as the Most Interesting Woman in the World, but I told them the world wasn’t ready for that yet.

I has been hugged by playwright Arthur Kopit.

I met Saved by the Bell’s Zach Morris in a mall when I was 13.

I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was 26.

I was in a girl band in college named ‘Panther Promise’.

I own 7 pairs of leather pants – no, not in all 7 rainbow colors.

My all-time favorite song is Pony by Ginuwine

I once went a week only eating vanilla pudding with a spork.

MY first crush was on Tom Petty.

I was an amateur Alligator wrestler in Florida. My family was more excited by the dinners than the champion titles.

My cousin dated Snoop Dogg.

I was a cast member of Road Rules season 4.

I could listen to 90’s R&B all day long. Its my fave!

How about sharing one of your guilty pleasure?

Sweets 🙂 Anything with chocolate and peanut butter is amazing!

How long have you been training with Bootique Fitness?

1 year 8 months

What was your life like before Bootique Fitness? How is that different now that you train with Bootique?

I have always felt that exercise is an important part of life but I was never great at implementing that feeling into my life. I would work out sporadically until I got bored with what I was doing and then I would take breaks. With Bootique, I never get bored with my workouts because they are always different and I like not having to think about what I need to do in a workout. I just show up and do what I’m told (mostly) 😉

What results have you seen since coming to Bootique Fitness? How do your results make you feel?

I’m definitely a lot stronger and I feel like I can pretty much do anything. I actually look forward to working out now too. It’s never a battle to make me go to boot camp or Zumba.

Tell me about your experience with the trainers.

I mostly do boot camp at 6am with Sabrina and she is amazing. She definitely knows how to push me and she knows my abilities better than I do. Sarah, Rocio and Jaylin are incredible as well I just don’t get to spend much boot camp time with them. Every trainer’s workouts are completely different and as challenging as you make them and I have yet to attend a class where I wasn’t laughing and having fun.

Zumba with Jaylin is definitely a great workout and it is also addicting. I frequently find myself singing and dancing to Zumba songs outside of Zumba class.

What is your favorite/least favorite exercise?

My favorite exercise is just regular old squats and my least is a tie between donkey kicks and burpees.

What do you enjoy the most about Bootique Fitness?

The other ladies working out with you are wonderful, funny, and inspiring. All of them!

What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?

Find a physical activity that you enjoy doing. If you enjoy it then it becomes so much easier to commit to.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Love me some Bootique!! (awh… thanks! 🙂 – Jaylin)

Thank you Miss Julie! We love training and dancing with you!
